New Jersey ehliyeti ile Andorra ülkesinde araç kullanma rehberi.
A valid New Jersey driving licence can be used in Andorra when accompanied by the appropriate International Driving Permit (IDP). U.S. Department of State guidance says travellers planning to drive in Andorra must obtain an IDP before arrival. For a U.S. licence, the applicable permit is the 1949 Geneva Convention IDP. No fixed non-resident visitor-day maximum was identified in the current Andorran regulation.
Carry the original New Jersey licence and the 1949 Geneva IDP together. The IDP is not a replacement licence. The current Andorran regulation accepts Geneva-model international permits with the national licence and only for the categories authorized by those documents.
New Jersey and Andorra are separate jurisdictions. New Jersey licences are issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, while Andorra applies its own foreign-permit rules. Article 14 of Andorra's current driving-permit regulation recognizes international permits issued under the 1949 Geneva model or the 1968 Vienna model when accompanied by the national licence. U.S. guidance specific to Andorra states that a U.S. driver should obtain an IDP before arrival, so a New Jersey holder should not rely on the state licence alone.
Vehicle entitlement remains limited to what the New Jersey licence and IDP authorize. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission describes the ordinary Class D automobile licence as covering Class D motor vehicles except motorcycles. An IDP cannot add a motorcycle or other category the New Jersey licence does not already authorize.
For this pair, treat the IDP as legally required. The U.S. Department of State's Andorra guidance says a driver must obtain an IDP before arrival. U.S. Department of State guidance also identifies AAA and AATA as the authorized U.S. issuers meeting the 1949 Geneva Convention standard. The relevant U.S.-issued document is therefore the 1949 Geneva Convention IDP, even though Andorran law also recognizes a 1968 Vienna-model IDP when properly issued by another country.
No separate certified translation requirement was identified for visitor driving when the original licence is carried with the IDP. The IDP is the translation document, but it is valid only together with the underlying licence.
The current Andorran regulation does not state a separate fixed maximum number of days for a non-resident visitor in Article 14, so max_visitor_days is not represented as a fixed number here. The licence and IDP must remain valid.
Residence changes the position. A person who acquires habitual residence, or a temporary residence permit, may use the qualifying foreign permit for no more than six months from obtaining that residence. Article 15 requires the exchange process before one year has elapsed. For permits handled under the non-EU and non-EFTA routes in Article 14, the regulation recognizes theory for categories A and B but requires the relevant practical tests for each category sought.
Rental policy is separate from driving law. Europcar's Andorra page says renters must present their normal driving licence and that an international driving licence is mandatory when the licence is written in a language different from that of the renting country or uses characters that cannot be read there. Its Andorra pickup information also asks for identification such as a passport and a valid payment card. For a New Jersey licence, confirm how the booked station applies that language condition. In any event, bring the IDP because the U.S. Department of State says it is required for driving in Andorra.
U.S. Department of State guidance for Andorra says drivers should carry driving permits, documents related to vehicle ownership, and vehicle insurance. For a rental vehicle, keep the rental agreement with the vehicle documentation.
The same guidance states that liability insurance is required to drive a car or motorcycle. Do not assume a U.S. personal auto policy satisfies Andorran requirements. Confirm the applicable coverage with the insurer or rental company.
The main category exception is that the IDP mirrors existing licence privileges rather than expanding them. A standard New Jersey Class D automobile licence does not authorize motorcycles. Exact New Jersey-to-Andorra category equivalence beyond the clearly held privileges is unverified – confirm with official authority.
The six-month limit is a residence rule, not a verified fixed tourist-day cap. Long-term residents also face exchange and testing rules that do not apply to an ordinary short visit.
Obtain the 1949 Geneva IDP before departure and carry it with the original valid New Jersey licence. Bring your passport, rental or ownership documents, and proof of liability insurance. Verify the exact vehicle category and the renter's current terms before collection, especially for motorcycles, larger vehicles, or any stay that involves Andorran residence.
