Georgia ehliyeti ile Angola ülkesinde araç kullanma rehberi.
A Georgia driving licence can be used in Angola for up to 30 days if it is valid, the holder meets Angola’s age requirement, and the licence satisfies Angola’s exam-equivalence condition. Angola’s regulation does not expressly require an IDP for that 30-day rule, but U.S. State Department guidance says U.S. drivers need an IDP or Angolan licence. Carry a 1949 Convention IDP with the Georgia licence.
For a short visit, a Georgia licence is usable only on the conditions set by Angola’s foreign-licence rules. The strongest practical choice is to carry the original licence together with a 1949 IDP because U.S. official guidance uses stricter wording than the Angolan regulation itself.
Angola’s Presidential Decree 203/16 recognizes qualifying foreign driving licences from countries without a bilateral exchange arrangement for no more than 30 days. The licence must be valid, the driver must be old enough for the equivalent Angolan licence, and the foreign licence must have been obtained through an examination at least as demanding as Angola’s. Georgia DDS requires first-time Class C applicants to pass vision, knowledge, and road-skills tests, but Angola’s authority ultimately controls whether the equivalence condition is accepted in an individual case.
The Angolan regulation does not expressly make an IDP a condition of its 30-day foreign-licence rule. Current U.S. State Department guidance for Angola nevertheless says a driver needs an IDP or Angolan licence and also says a U.S. licence may be used for up to one month. Because those official sources are not perfectly aligned, the database status is set to depends rather than presenting an unsupported absolute rule.
For a Georgia licence holder, the U.S.-issued permit is the 1949 Geneva Convention IDP. The U.S. Department of State authorizes AAA and AATA to issue IDPs meeting the 1949 Convention standard, and AAA lists Angola among places that honor that permit format. The IDP is a translation and supplement, not a replacement for the Georgia licence.
The normal foreign-licence period is 30 days. Angola’s regulation permits a justified extension for another equal period. It also provides a separate special driving authorization for non-domiciled foreigners from countries without mutual recognition, valid for up to one year and never beyond the foreign licence’s validity. Because those additional routes are conditional, max_visitor_days is left NULL rather than implying one fixed maximum.
A resident who holds a foreign licence that is valid for driving in Angola may apply to exchange it for an Angolan licence. Article 104 lists supporting documents including identification, proof of residence, confirmation of licence validity from the issuing authority or embassy, and an Angolan driver medical certificate.
Avis Luanda’s published terms require a valid licence in the driver’s name from the country of residence. Avis requires an IDP when the licence uses a non-Roman alphabet. A Georgia credential uses Roman-script English, so that specific Avis rule does not impose an IDP solely because of the licence’s script. No broad set of first-party Angola rental policies was verified, so other companies should be checked directly.
The U.S. Department of State says police checkpoints in and around Luanda may inspect vehicle documentation. Carry the original Georgia licence, the 1949 IDP, identification, and the rental or vehicle documents. Its Angola guidance also recommends having color photocopies of passport and identity documents available for police or security checks.
ARSEG, Angola’s insurance regulator, states that compulsory motor third-party civil-liability insurance is required for vehicles to circulate. For rentals, verify the vehicle’s required liability cover and distinguish that compulsory cover from optional collision or theft products.
The Georgia licence must remain valid and the driver must satisfy Angola’s age requirement for the equivalent vehicle category. The exam-equivalence condition is important because Angola’s rule is not unconditional recognition of every foreign licence. A special authorization or resident exchange is a separate legal route and should not be confused with the initial 30-day foreign-licence period.
Carry the original Georgia licence and a current 1949 IDP from AAA or AATA. Treat the IDP as a supplement, not a substitute. For a short stay, plan around the 30-day foreign-licence rule unless an Angolan authority grants an extension or special authorization, and confirm your rental company’s document requirements before collection.
