Jordan ehliyeti ile New Zealand ülkesinde araç kullanma rehberi.
A current and valid Jordan driving licence can be used in New Zealand under the country's normal overseas-licence rules. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is not a separate universal requirement, but if the licence is not in English you must carry an accurate English translation or an acceptable IDP. As at 26 September 2026, an overseas car licence is generally usable for up to 18 months from the last arrival, subject to the applicable conditions and transitional rules.
Jordan is not given a special visitor exemption or separate recognition regime in the NZ Transport Agency guidance checked. The general overseas-licence rules apply. The original licence must remain current and valid, and language determines whether an additional translation document is needed.
NZ Transport Agency states that you can drive without a New Zealand licence if you have a current and valid overseas licence or driver permit, have not been disqualified or suspended in New Zealand, and have not been issued a New Zealand driver licence since your last entry. You may drive vehicles permitted by your overseas licence within the corresponding New Zealand limits. A full overseas car licence permits a car or light vehicle with a gross laden weight of up to 6000 kg.
New Zealand does not impose a separate IDP requirement on every overseas driver. If the overseas licence is not in English, NZTA requires an accurate English translation or an IDP that it accepts as a translation. The original overseas licence must still be carried. No separate NZTA recommendation that Jordan licence holders obtain an IDP when their licence otherwise meets the English-language requirement was verified. The exact convention model applicable to an IDP issued for a Jordan licence is unverified – confirm with official authority.
As at the verification date, an overseas car licence can generally be used for up to 18 months from the last arrival in New Zealand. The temporary extension ends on 1 November 2026, when the general limit returns to 12 months, although legislation provides transitional treatment for qualifying arrivals between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2026. Overseas motorcycle and truck licences have a 12-month limit. The NZTA rule is based on overseas-licence status and time since arrival rather than a separate visitor-versus-resident period. A person who needs to continue driving after the applicable period must obtain a New Zealand licence. Jordan is not on NZTA's exempt-country list, so its licences follow the non-exempt conversion process.
Rental-company requirements are contractual and can be stricter than the legal minimum. Avis New Zealand states that drivers must present a full, current and valid licence and generally must have held the appropriate licence for at least 12 consecutive months. Its published information also applies translation or IDP requirements to licences that are not in English. This is Avis policy and should not be treated as a rule applying automatically to every rental company.
When driving on an overseas licence, carry the current licence itself. Where the licence is not in English, also carry the accurate English translation or acceptable IDP required by NZTA. An IDP does not replace the underlying licence. No Jordan-specific insurance condition was verified, so insurance is unverified – confirm with official authority or the applicable insurer or rental contract.
The 18-month temporary period concerns overseas car licences. Motorcycle and truck licences remain subject to a 12-month period. Learner, restricted or provisional overseas licences can also have different vehicle limits. Starting or completing conversion to a New Zealand licence can affect continued reliance on an overseas licence.
Travel with the original current Jordan licence. Check whether every relevant part of the licence is in English. If it is not, obtain an NZTA-acceptable translation or acceptable IDP before driving. Confirm the chosen rental company's documentation rules separately because rental policy can exceed the legal minimum.
This information was checked against the official and first-party sources listed above on 26 September 2026. Driving-licence, conversion and rental rules can change, including the scheduled New Zealand car-licence time-limit change on 1 November 2026.
