Albania ehliyeti ile Barbados ülkesinde araç kullanma rehberi.
Yes. A visitor holding a valid Albanian driving licence can drive in Barbados in the vehicle class their licence permits. Barbados abolished its separate Visitor Driving Permit on 15 October 2025, and the current government guidance does not require an International Driving Permit (IDP). An officially required translation was not established. An older order allows temporary visitors up to 12 months from entry, but confirm how that limit operates under the post-2025 rules.
The Albanian national licence is the key document. Its validity and vehicle category matter, while any additional IDP or translation requested by a rental desk is a company condition unless a separate legal requirement is established.
Albania and Barbados are separate countries and both are parties to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. Barbados' published Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles (International Circulation)) Order recognises a foreign domestic driving permit for a temporary visitor and limits driving to the class it authorises. The Barbados Revenue Authority's October 2025 policy also expressly requires visitors to hold a valid driving licence. This is recognition under a general rule, not a documented Albania-only concession.
No Barbados rule checked requires an Albanian visitor to carry an IDP in addition to a valid domestic licence. The 1949 Geneva Convention is the treaty shared by the two countries, but Albania's General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DPSHTRR) says the IDP it currently issues is valid only in countries party to the 1968 Vienna Convention. Barbados is not listed as a party to that convention. DPSHTRR advises travellers to consult destination authorities for non-Vienna countries. A Barbados-specific official recommendation to obtain an IDP, or a legally compulsory translation, was unverified – confirm with official authority.
The published international-circulation order describes a 12-month allowance from the visitor's last entry, for the authorised class and while the foreign permit remains valid. That older text also contains registration and fee provisions displaced by the October 2025 abolition. The Barbados Revenue Authority does not set out a revised long-stay limit in its current policy note, so confirm the applicable period with the Barbados Licensing Authority if staying beyond a short visit. For residents, the Licensing Authority advertises transfers of non-national licences with proof of residency, but a guaranteed exchange of an Albanian licence and its deadline are unverified – confirm with official authority.
Rental companies must verify that the licence is valid and current, according to the Barbados Revenue Authority. A modern Albanian card uses the Latin alphabet and includes the English heading Driving Licence. That matters because the two published rental policies checked tie extra documentation to non-Latin characters, rather than to Albanian nationality.
| Company | Published requirements | Source |

| SIXT Barbados | Original valid licence held at least 2 years, minimum age 25 for listed car categories, ID or passport. IDP for non-Roman-script licences. Its terms request a doctor note at age 70 or above. | SIXT Barbados rental information, checked 2026-10-24 |
| Enterprise Grantley Adams airport | Original licence held at least 3 years, foreign renter passport. Renters aged 21–24 may rent certain classes with an extra charge. If characters are not English or Latin, IDP or notarised English translation. | Enterprise airport rental policies, checked 2026-10-24 |
The Road Traffic Act allows police to request a driver's licence under section 74 and an insurance certificate, along with driver and owner details, under section 42. Section 37 requires third-party insurance or compliant security. Enterprise's airport rental terms include third-party liability in the rate, while SIXT's Barbados terms specify liability protection and contractual restrictions. Those insurance terms apply according to the rental agreement, not automatically to every driver with an Albanian licence.
Older Barbados government and licensing webpages still instruct visitors to buy a Visitor Driving Permit. The Barbados Revenue Authority's later, dated policy abolishes that requirement effective 15 October 2025. Do not confuse the former permit with an IDP. Separate rental restrictions may affect younger drivers, older drivers, or people whose licence has been held for too short a time.

Use the original Albanian licence for a class it authorises, and send a photograph of the card to the chosen rental branch beforehand if its language or format may cause questions. Do not buy an IDP on the assumption that Albania's Vienna-model document is required or recognised in Barbados. Check the hire contract, insurance and any planned change from visitor to resident status.
